Achilles tendon injuries are very common sports injuries. Especially with runners or athletes who run as a training component. The pain in the Achilles tendon is usually located at the attachment to the heel or up to 6 cm above this attachment. In the acute stage, the Achilles tendon is often: red, swollen, warm and painful, clearly inflammatory symptoms. However, an Achilles tendon injury can also become chronic. There is then pain at rest and has been present for longer than 6 weeks.
